I Love This App, However....
This app is really great for helping track carb intake (and other nutrition values), exercise time, weight, glucose readings, water consumption, blood pressure readings, Lipidpanel history, and medications. I have recently been diagnosed as a raging diabetic, so this is helping me track my progress and lifestyle changes. However, I have been using the app for about 9 days now and I have noticed a few bugs and some things that have made me question the accuracy of the built in nutritional data. For instance, I ate a few dry roasted, salted peanuts and found that the app had data for a 1 peanut serving (that was great since I just ate about 5 peanuts) and a 100 g serving. However, the 1 peanut serving had the same 585 calories and 13.5 g of carbs as the 100 g serving. No way I wanted to multiply the 1 peanuts serving numbers by 5 as my snack intake! I also noticed that a cup (unpacked) of golden seedless raisins are listed as having more cholesterol (462.5 g) than eggs. But when I search the internet for nutrition values of raisins, I find that raisins seem to have little or no cholesterol. I have compared nutrition labels of items I have in my house with what is listed in this apps database and often found disturbing differences, so I dont have a lot of confidence in the app in this regard. Fortunately I can put in custom entries with data I can verify. Another bug I have noticed is that if I go back and edit something from my food log (say, I failed to notice it put the meal as "Other" instead of "Breakfast" or "Lunch", so I go back to correct it), right after I save the change the app closes and I have to restart it.
While it may seem like I am complaining, overall, I love this app. I almost ALWAYS have my iPhone with me so whenever I eat, drink, exercise, weigh myself, take meds, etc. I can track it. And there are reports available to give me and my doctor feedback on my activities I am the kind of guy who enjoys being able to track stuff and this app tracks so many aspects of my new (albeit, reluctantly forced) lifestyle that I am confident that I will have success reaching my nutritional and general health goals. I recommend this app... just take the nutritional database with a grain of salt.
